A Short History of Meycauayan College
Year 1925

The year 1925 marked a significant event in the history of Meycauayan, for it brought the establishment of Meycauayan Institute - the first private high school in the municipality.


Founded by a few civic-oriented citizens, the Meycauayan Institute conceived in the ideals of service and dedication to the moral, spiritual, cultural and educational upliftment of the youth in the field of secondary education.

College Courses

In the mid-seventies, transportation rates and prices of goods went up which prompted parents to clamor for the opening of college courses to enable their education to pursue their college education at a minimal cost. In June 1977, the permits to offer the first year curricular offerings for Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Science in Commerce, and Bachelors of Arts (AB) were approved. Vocational interest and needs of the youth were not overlooked; thus short term/technical courses were gradually offered.

Meycauayan College

In 1980, the Meycauayan Institute was renamed Meycauayan College and in May 1981, the first graduation of college was held. From 1981 to 2004, the College Department has graduated 4, 422 alumni and produced certified public accountants and license teachers. The Department of Education, Culture and Sports granted the permit to Meycauayan College to open its Child Study Center in 1985. Consequently, the Elementary Department was established.

New Courses at 1987

A few years later, in the tertiary level, new courses were added - Bachelor in Elementary Education (1987) and Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (1990), to replace BSC major in Accounting. In 1991, Banking and Finance Course was changed to Financial Management. In 1993, Master of Arts in Education major in Psychology, English, Mathematics, Administration and Supervision, Physical Education and Educational Management was offered to cater the growing demands for higher education.

Computer Education

In the era of modern technology, the college applied to open Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) and was granted permission by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in 1995. In the year 2003, the College offered Associate in Computer Technology, a two-year course in the field of Computer. April of 2008, the Revised and Ladderized Curriculum of BSCS was approved.

BSHM | BSTrM | BSAT

October 2008, the CHED gave the Government Recognition to operate BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT (BSHM). Government Permit was also granted to MEYCAUAYAN COLLEGE to operate the First and Second Year Levels of the BACHELOR OF SCIENCE in TRAVEL MANAGEMENT (BSTRM) program and BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ACCOUNTING TECHNOLOGY (BSAT).

Reaching Far & High in the 3rd Millennium

Additional courses were added in the Academic Programs such as: Bachelor of Science in Legal Management (BSLM), Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW), Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCRIM), Bachelor of Library and Information System (BLIS).

The Meycauayan College cannot forget its founders, administrators, and all the people behind its growth and developments. Its present social, civic, and educational structured pledge with hopes to move forward with its commitment to the youth and the community. Its educational philosophy is geared towards meeting the challenges of times and its attuned with the national needs and goals of the country.


From its humble beginning in 1925, the Meycauayan College carried on with its mission. It was a continuous struggle for survival and recognition. The Board of Directors, the Administrators, faculty, personnel and the parents worked hand in hand for a noble cause. Their hopes were high, their aims lofty, and their purpose sincere.
